Crystal Mountain

Crystal Mountain Resort:

My family and I LOVE Crystal Mountain Resort and its quaint village all set up around the hill.    Are you looking for a resort to take your entire family to ski?  You really won’t need to look much further.  Crystal Mountain offers everything you would look for in a resort to have a Michigan family ski vacation.

Ski School

Their ski school is organized and fun for the kids.  They have full day programs that include lunch and snacks.

Childcare

They have a childcare facility that my girls loved to go to when they weren’t skiing.  Sign up for this right away, it does fill up quickly.

Spa

They have a full service spa, so if you are looking for time to relax off of the slopes, you will find it here.

Dining

Crystal offers several dining choices during your stay.  The Wild Tomato has quality affordable meals and offers a breakfast buffet in addition to their menu. They have an omelet and waffle station along with all of the other good breakfast goodies on this buffet.  With one paying adult, up to two children, under 8 eat free.  What a great way to start your ski day and easy on the wallet.  On the weekends they offer a dinner buffet with a salad bar that is above average too.  On select weekends, they even have a prime rib carving station.  The staff always seem to remember what your drink of choice is and what your favorite table is.  They never failed to make us feel special during our visits.

Indoor pool and hot tub

The kids just love to go to this pool in the evenings.  They have locker rooms and offer towels to the guests.

Workout room

State of the art, new workout room with great equipment if you feel the need to workout during your vacation.

Lodging

Crystal offers many different rooms, condos or houses when you stay on site.  Depending on your budget, the number of guests you are bringing with you, or if you are concerned about the lifts only being a few steps away, there are many choices to choose from.  Our favorite was the Bungalows right at the base of the Buck chairlift.  These bungalows are amazing.  Hardwood floors, granite countertops, fireplace and a room with four bunk beds for the kids.  The Hamlet is another option right on the slopes, by the Crystal Clipper chairlift.  Some of the rooms are suites that have a separate bedroom and a murphy bed in the living room with a kitchenette.  The Crystal Colony room that we stayed in during our first visit had a fireplace and a full kitchen.  The great advantage at Crystal is you can walk to all the shops, spa, pool, lifts and dining once you are there.  Each of these had convenient lockers to keep your skis and poles in when you weren’t skiing.

Hours of Operation

Crystal Mountain has skiing daily with their lifts running 9AM until 9PM.  They have one speed chair (Crystal Clipper) and two new lifts, the Buck lift was put up in the Summer of 2013 and the Loki lift was put in two winters ago.

Dedication to Guests

The best attribute about Crystal is their exceptional customer service.  They truly live by their mission statement that they are dedicated to their guests.  During our stays, we always feel like we are a part of the Crystal Mountain family.
